Crystal is an excellent cruise experience. I don't think it can be matched for fine dining. The staff is gracious and well trained. Public rooms are lovely and well appointed. The itinerary was superb . Shore excursions well done with local and knowledgeable guides. Spa and fitness nice with a variety of options.

Crystal Symphony - Western Australia, Tasmania, NSW

    2/2018 Western Australia, Tasmania, NSW
    Full Review
We have enjoyed several cruise lines over about 30 years, including Princess, Norwegian, Royal Caribbean, Holland America, two others that no longer exist, and of course Crystal. We have enjoyed all 30+ cruises. However, Crystal Cruises is our favorite. We enjoy the mid-size ships with comfortable public spaces, regular renovations & upgrades, wonderful service, and all-inclusive package. On this Australia Cruise, there were a few maiden ports offered, and we enjoyed all of the ports included. Looking forward to cruising on Crystal again!

Great way to see the countries of Southern Africa

    1/2018 South Africa, Mozambique, Namibia
    Full Review
Our travel agent recommended this cruise for our family, and it was worth the long trek from Arizona to Cape Town, SA to be a part of this expedition. We enjoyed a combination of the updated Penthouse Suite (deck 9) and the original Penthouse Suite (deck 9) to our great comfort and delight. Having sailed with all of the upper level cruise lines over the past 10 years, Crystal continues to set the bar in terms of quality in all matters.

    Crystal Symphony - Australia/New Zealand

    1/2017 Australia/New Zealand
Having just returned from our 15 day Australia/New Zealand cruise aboard the beautiful Crystal Symphony, I am once again reminded why Crystal continues to win awards in the luxury cruise space.
    Full Review
Crystal Cruises seems to do everything right, and I am not surprised. Despite the fact that they are growing their brand faster than any cruise line in history (that I am aware of), their current products continue to be among the best in the industry. Starting at the beginning, embarkation could not have been easier or gone more smoothly. It literally took us less than 10 minutes from when we arrived at the cruise terminal, until we were comfortably onboard the ship. To be fair, we boarded after the main rush. But with a completely full ship, I still expected at least a short line when we arrived at the port, but there was none. That obvious level of efficiency and planning would be repeated throughout our voyage, as we never waited more than 2 or 3 minutes in line for anything, including tenders. I want to point out once again, that this all happened with a completely full ship! On the subject of crowds on a full ship, there were none, even on the sea days. I attribute this to the impressive list of activities available every day. Whether you wanted to listen to the Secret Service agent who climbed on the back of JFKs limo in Dallas on that fateful day in 1963, hear from an astronaut who has been on multiple missions, or take a knitting, art, Spanish or computer class, the offerings were plentiful. This meant there was never a crowd around the pool, or anywhere else onboard. The dining options on Symphony provide a wonderful variety that should allow everyone to find something that appeals to them. Our experiences in Silk Road, Prego, Lido Caf, Trident Grill, and of course the main dining room, could not have been better. The only downside being that the wonderful food combined with the sea air, somehow made all of our clothes shrink a size or two ? To offset the constant temptations we encountered, not only from the restaurants above, but also from the Ice Cream Bar and snacks at The Bistro, we made use of the wonderful gym onboard. There are plenty of cardio machines ellipticals, treadmills, bikes, etc., as well and a nice variety of classes, resistance machines and free weights. In addition to the lecturers mentioned above, there are of course a number of night time entertainment options. We enjoyed the beautiful violin music before dinner as well as the various musicians in the lounges later in the evening. The Galaxy Lounge was host to wonderful production shows, a hilarious ventriloquist/comedian, and other headline entertainers throughout the cruise. As usual with Crystal, I have to mention the staff. From day one, at least 5 members of the staff were calling us by name, and by the second day our favorite drinks would arrive within moments of us sitting down anywhere onboard. Whether it was at breakfast outside the Lido Caf (decaf latte for my wife and regular coffee for me), on a super comfortable lounge chair around the pool (iced tea and beer), or in the Crystal Cove each evening (white wine for her, red for me), they always knew what we wanted. Getting to experience the wonderful staff is one of the highlights of a Crystal cruise.

It's amazing how the staff strives for 100% satisfaction.
The food remains wonderful as does the enrichment program onboard.

Papeete French Polynesia to Auckland New Zealand

    12/2016 South Pacific
With so many days at sea Crystal provided a wide array of activities to keep passengers occupied and entertained. Many people I meet on board took this cruise as they love the sea days because they get to experience the ship. Even though we had to miss two of the four scheduled ports due to weather, Crystal did a great job substituting an overnight in the Bay of Plenty in New Zealand and had excursions arranged that you could sign up for. I found this arrangement wonderful as I have been to the two ports missed and never to this area of New Zealand. During the whole time the captain and crew kept us updated as to what was happening. The cabins were very comfortable with nice bathrooms with wonderful toiletries and very comfortable beds.

The food in Silk Road and Prego were both fabulous and the meals in the Crystal Dining Room had a wonderful selection to choose from. Even with Dining by Reservations we had the same wait staff most of the time so that they were able to know your likes and dislikes. My only complaint was that I have food allergies to black pepper and tomatoes and the food was very bland as if you couldn't have any seasoning even though I was given the next evening's menu to give my selection to the chef a head of time so he could prepare the food accordingly. The wait staff & maitre'd were always apologetic even though it was not their fault. Lido and Trident Grill were great options for breakfast or lunch and the staff at both locations were very friendly. I was amazed that after the first day whenever they saw you they greeted you by name and asked if they could be of assistance.
Pros Very relaxing way to sail the Pacific Ocean
Cons Not for anyone who wants a port intensive cruise.

Love Crystal Cruises. We have taken many, we are book for three in the future and can hardly wait to see what will be available in the years to come. Sorry to hear the newest ocean cruise ship will not be out until 2022.
Pros free public laundromats, complimentary shuttle service in many cities, excellent lecturers, great shore excursions, early shows for late dinner seating, excellent menu and tasty food.
Cons Combined Capt. welcome aboard party with Crystal Society party, raised from 20 to 25 the number of cruises needed to get penthouse upgrade, Crystal Hostess no longer introduces passengers to Capt. at entrance to Welcome Aboard Party,

    11/2016 round trip San Diego
This was a 10 day cruise from San Diego to San Diego with stops in LA, Santa Barbara, SFO, Catalina Island, and Esenada. Lots of older people who could drive to the port. wonderful overnights in SFO, turned out to be 2 nights because of rough seas.

Some changes with Crystal, You must ask to have liquor in your room refrigerator. You must request to have fruit in your cabin and the room service menus are stored in the back of a book in the desk drawer. They are not put out at night.  The Symphony will be refitted for anytime dining in 2017 and the Serenity in 2018.  this will be great.  Crystal does a great job activities and shows.  We particularly enjoyed the excursion to the Getty Center (except for LA traffic) and cooking school in Ensenada.  Being in SFO overnight is really great.
Pros Immaculate cabins, no long flights, delicious food and especially the homemade icecream cones . Good entertainment and wonderful staff.
Cons can have rough seas heading to SFO. Dinner seatings at 6:00PM and 8:30PM. Once you experience anytime dining, it's hard to go back to set times.

The overall sailing on the Crystal Symphony from Tilbury to Lisbon was very positive. Soft sailing with the ship only half full, staff was amazingly friendly and attentive. Captain kept everyone well advised of any possibility of rough waters or fog. Lovely, quiet sailing making it almost like being on a large yacht with extended friends.

Ship being only half filled, and about half of those being from GB, it made for a fun adventure getting to socialize with many people from the US and other countries. Crystal makes everyone feel special and at home. Even when in Port, it was not unusual to see a staff member who greeted you like family. From the most gracious, easy boarding I've ever experienced, to the cleanliness of the ship, the friendly and engaging staff, good food, enetertainment and wonderful guest, everything was as perfect as it could be. There was time to explore, see new places, time to relax, meet new friends, and enjoy the entertainment. Absolutely a lovely cruise and wonderful experience.

Overal we enjoyed our trip very much. The ship was lovely and well appointed. We found that Crystal caters to returning passengers who don't necessarily participate in off-ship activities while in port. Our only issue was with the distance the ship was to Metro Hamburg, Edinborough (took us an hour in traffic in both directions and the shuttle stopped early in the evening), and Newcastle.
Pros Helpful, pleasant staff. Outstanding service. Well planned educational lectures and classes. Unbeatable menu and food quality

The staff sent out the cocktail party invitations and set up the party for the night of July 25th. The staff took care of everything and couldn't be more helpful. The food was amazing and if special requests were made, the staff accommodated the needs. 5 stars for the staff!

The cruise was handled efficiently from embarkation/disembarkation to immigration processes. Housekeeping was very, very good. Consider trading Oslo for Kristiansand and London for Newcastle as these ports were least exciting for shore excursions.

12 day itinerary from Athens to Rome. Originally scheduled to begin in Istanbul but was changed for security reasons.

The revised itinerary created a port intensive visit to many of Greek Isles. An overnight stay in Athens allowed for more sightseeing and a relaxed start to the voyage. There were stops at popular ports like Mykonos, Rhodes, and breathtaking Santorini. In addition we visited smaller islands such as Patmos and Argostoli. A new port for Crystal was Crotone, Italy. Many guests weren't very impressed with Crotone but the guests were given a warm welcome in town.

Crystal has figured out that if they keep their staff's morale high and happy that will translate to their passengers. I think this is what sets them apart from other cruise lines that for the time being have the larger cabins and a few more specialty restaurants.

Not sure what the problem was, things were not being replaced when they should have been. Some wines ran out so we were told, until a person in our group got mad. Then the wine was available but only on request. Their seemed to be a shortage of things. We have been on many different cruise lines and had heard that Crystal was one of the best. At this point I would not travel with them again. I do want to add it was a great trip as far as staff and intinerary. Getting on and off the ship was perfect. Best it has ever been.

I was overwhelmed when I boarded the ship, in a good way, with all the cruise members waiting on us hand and foot. Smiles galore. Cannot say enough about the wonderful experience we had. Due to a storm, we missed our last port and had to go back to NYC. But even with that, we wouldn't change a thing. They gave us a fabulous week of memories.
Pros If you want it, they will get it or do it. And with a happy face. Something you just don't see anymore. So many people right at your service. Food and drink.....the absolute best. Ports-excellent. Just can't say enough about this cruise line. We spoke to many past Crystal Cruise members and they all said once they cruised Crystal, they never cruise anything else. We understand why.
Cons Let's see.....truly hard to think of something. Maybe movies in the theater all day, not just twice a day. Really....all I can think of!

    Luxurious and Relaxing

    Full Review
We celebrated our 30th anniversary on this cruise so wanted a more upscale experience. We did get that and really enjoyed how the employees learned your names and preferences by the end of the first day. The food and service couldn't have been better. The cabins were very small but tolerable since we didn't spend a lot of time in it. Having a balcony was nice and made it feel a little larger. We figured it would be a little older age group traveling but we felt very young with all the 70, 80, 90 year olds on board. We may have seen five children on the cruise. The entertainment was somewhat geared toward that age group but it was very good. Having most everything included was wonderful and the photographers were not intrusive at all. The size (around 900 passengers) was great. We got to know quite a few others on the ship and never felt crowded or herded like on some ships. Getting on and off the ship was very organized and easy. It was a very relaxing get-away and we'd recommend it.
Pros Personalized attention from employees. Excellent food. All-inclusive. Size. Beautiful decor.

I've sailed on Crystal Symphony several times, have always been well provided for and taken care of by the very attentive staff. The recent enhancements to the main lobby, Crystal Cove, outdoor fitness garden and throughout the ship have turned out beautifully. The nightly entertainment was varied, interesting and worthwhile...especially the Illuminations show. Shore excursions offered by Crystal cover all important areas of each port city. Tours are priced fairly and are a good value. Dining continues to be outstanding, from room service to casual to Asian influenced to Italian to endless variety in the main dining room. Special diet requests pose no problem for the chef.  Cabins are small, yet very well appointed.  Removal of the barrel shaped chair at the vanity provides valuable space and ease of moving around cabin.

    The Crystal Symphony

We boarded the Symphony with ease in Hong Kong during the prelude to their Lunar New Year. An amazing city: modern, efficient, sensational food & clean. Friendly english speaking locals were helpful. Our next several ports were all 3rd world, Sanya, China, Vietnam, Cambodia & Thailand. These next countries offered a very diverse experience...history, religion & revival are the main components of the excursions we experienced. The dollar was strong, our guides were local experts who were happy to share their knowledge of their country. We love the Symphony and this was our second sailing, and we were just as pleased and impressed as on our first. Service, food & amenities, entertainment and comfort were all excellent. We love Crystal & it has now become our favorite.
Pros This size ship offers generous room for guests but you feel catered to. It affords 5-6 venues of entertainment each and every night, which is really enjoyable.

    Crystal Symphony

    Full Review
The Crystal Symphony went through several refurbishments over the last several years. The last one in 2012, this included the theatre and public lounges. The ship has maintained its’ elegant ambience. In the main dining room, guests have now had a choice of the Modern Menu, alongside the traditional menu. I found the Modern menu to be excellent. The portions were small with a beautiful presentation. Prego, the Italian restaurant, in my opinion needs an update. It’s the same menu I saw over ten years ago. Even though we were told that the restaurant was heavily booked, there were only two tables being served. It’s dark and somber. Silk Road serves a wide variety of options. With the help of our waiter, he helped us, novices; navigate the menu to meet our tastes. It still remains as one of my favorite on board restaurants. On board lecturers were of the usual Crystal high standards along with excellent entertainment. ‘Imagine’ is a 30 minute show not to be missed. The service everywhere on the ship continues to be excellent. I think the most exciting and innovating move Crystal has made is the PURE program. Guests who suffer from allergies can now reserve a hypoallergenic stateroom in categories P1 and P2 on the Serenity and A2 and A3 on the Symphony. And at no additional cost. A Deluxe PURE Stateroom gives guests tangible results: • Relief from allergies and mild respiratory issues, including coughing, sneezing, sniffling, and watery eyes. (Crystal’s PURE particle-free reduction process exceeds asthma and allergy community recommendations). • More sound sleep, waking refreshed. • Breathing of clean, crisp, ultra-fresh air, thereby enhancing the relaxation and recuperation that people expect from vacation. • No chemicals, no lingering odors—PURE’s cleaning solutions are completely invisible to the eye, smell and touch. A link for more information on Crystal’s website: http://www.crystalcruises.com/ContentPage.aspx?ID=171&CMP=EMWP10221
Pros All inclusive except for shore excursions. Excellent enrichment classes. Great entertainment. Traditional style cruising.

    Cleanliness & Safety

1/2015 Singapore; Saigon, Vietnam; Malaysian Borneo; Brunei; Surabaya & Bali, Indonesia
    Full Review
This was my first Crystal Cruise ship & I just got home on Sunday. I got lots of emails keeping me updated on the progress of my booking & any changes, which I appreciated. On the ship nothing was too much trouble & I heard very few grumblings! The food was spectacular & the staff had a sense of humour. The lectures were fascinating & I enjoyed the arts & crafts sessions. I planned to go in the pool but never seemed to have time! The shore trips were very varied & most of the local guides were good & knowledgeable. The cabins were well appointed with lots of practical storage space & roomy. The cabin stewards were great too. I think that the bathroom design is one of the best I have ever come across, & I have been travelling since I was 16 & am now about to turn 71, so I have seen a few in my time! If my budget allows I would certainly love to travel with Crystal again, & would recommend it to my friends. I like the small number of passengers as thousands is not my cup of tea.
Pros Hand santizers at the entrance of EVERY eating place & someone there to remind you to use it! Public bathrooms had real towels to wipe your hands & tissues to use on the doorhandles. Safety shower mats in the bathroom tubs in the cabins, also good handholds & rails to hang on to when getting in & out or when the ship is rocking & rolling!
    Cons it.

    The Lovely Crystal Symphony

12/2014 Bali to Singapore included Indonesia, Malaysia , Thailand and Singapore
The Symphony continues to look beautiful and to retain it's excellence of standards,
    Full Review
With Crystal it's all about the personal service. Yes the ship is beautiful, yes the food is grand, yes the entertainment and enrichment are beyond compare on any other cruise line. But at the end of the day you walk away talking about the staff and the generosity of spirit that they endow upon you as their guest on this ship in this part of the world at this time. Crystal talks about their passengers becoming "Crystalized". I am reporting that it is true.
Pros Gorgeous and plentiful Public areas, world class entertainement, enrichment, All-Inclusive
Cons It is known that cabins are a bit small but I find them ample, comfortable and well appointed.

Crystal Experience San Diego to Auckland

    10/2014 Auckland
The 2 week cruise from San Diego to Auckland included only one port, Honolulu, but also allowed cruisers to cross the equator and the international dateline. Each of these are unique experiences for most passengers.
    Full Review
With so many days at sea one might might worry about getting bored, but the excellent assortment of guest speakers kept the passengers mentally stimulated and/or entertained daily. It also was an excellent opportunity for many to learn new dance steps with some of the most charming, intelligent group of hosts I have seen. The tour I took in Honolulu was the exploration around the north shore as we had been there before. Our guide was one of the most knowledgeable marine biologists we have ever heard. Personable, too. The passengers consisted of many frequent Crystal cruisers; however I met two couples who were first timers. They were enchanted with the "Crystal experience."
Pros A relaxing way to transfer from the west coast to New Zealand. This certainly was the case with several couples we met who actually live half the year in New Zealand.
Cons If someone wanted to see more ports this would not be the best choice.

    Crystal Symphony March 20, 2017

    7/2014 Asia
Excellent cruise, I found many improvements over my last cruise on Crystal in July of 2014.
    Full Review
This was an interest itinerary with three overnights in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Incheon. Many people also took overnight adventures so although the ship was full, it never felt that way. The food had greatly improved and the service was much more refined than it was three years ago. The only issue was the amount of security and delays due to immigration as we traveled from Hong Kong to China to Japan and finally to Korea. Departure on excursions was delayed and we needed to go into the terminal as we entered each country even if we planned to stay on board in the port.
Pros Great food, entertainment and service.

The Baltic Sea Cities -- President's Cruise

7/2014 Stockholm, Helsinki, Talinn, St. Petersburg. Rostock, Copenhagen
    Full Review
From the time we landed in Stockholm, we were well taken care of by the Crystal Cruises. `We were met and taken to a 'Sheraton Hotel in the city until time to board the ship at 2 pm. Our checkin at the ship was quick, and the stateroom location on deck 5 was extremely convenient throughout the cruise. Food was excellent, and our table companions at dinner were very interesting and varied in background. The shore excursions were excellent with informative guides. We were fortunate to have a Signature bonus in St. Petersburg, with a private driver and guide to save us time inside the lovely Hermitage Museum and Peter and Paul Fortress. On ship, the song & dance programs were outstanding. The Crystal President and the renowned Roger Moore and his wife were on board and had a Q & A session for us. The days went too quickly with many ports, and we were so glad for three days in St; Petersburg;. What a memorable trip!!
Pros All personnel on the ship were courteous and personable. Food was excellent!. We were fortunate to have only one rainy day!
Cons I would suggest adding a blender machine in the bistro so that blended non-alcoholic coffee drinks could be made (ala Starbucks).

    Full Review
I had an amazing time on the Crystal Symphony. Despite being 20 years old, the ship does not show her age. I really appreciated the all inclusive nature of the cruise. I found I spent more time in the Crystal Cove and Avenue Saloon because I was not worried about the price of drinks. It seemed to make the ship a much more social environment. The staff were amazing and did not seem to say no to any request. The ports were great. The included shuttles to town were greatly appreciated. I really appreciated the lack of overhead announcements.

Overall, our trip was great. Crystal's people are always kind and gracious, and the offshore excursion guides were great, as well. The entertainment was excellent (although the show tunes skit needed upgrading to better shows). One suggestion: the ship needs an additional casual dining room upstairs as an alternative to a big dinner at the Crystal dining room.

The Symphony sailed up the coast of Malaysia to Mynmar, which was the highlight of the cruise. Ships dock about 1 hour outside of Yangon, but the drive is interesting and the ships shore excursions are excellent. Other ports were in Malaysia, Thailand and the Andaman Islands. It was necessary to get an Indian Visa for the Andaman Island so many stayed on the ship as it was only a 4 or 5 hour shore excursion

    1. Very good food in main dining room.
    2. Good food in the Asian alternative dining room.
    3. Excellent food in the Prego alternative dining room.
    4. Entertainment (particularly Broadway shows) was among the best I have seen on any ship!
    5. Shore excursions on this sailing were somewhat limited and very
expensive. I heard several comments about this.
    6. High Tea event in the Palm Court is outstanding.
    7. TV in staterooms was very limited in terms of movie selection and
US news/sports. Compared to other ships that I have been on, this

    Some changes

    2/2014 New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia
Would still return to Crystal but have some trouble with the changes and lack of communication.
    Full Review
The boat was the same with some redone spaces and rooms. Crew is still pleasant and helpful. The guys around the pool and grill are great as is most of the more formal waitstaff. The food was very, very good and plentiful. The wine was varied and good with a couple of weak ones for the "included" wines. The beer list is still lack luster with a "special" list of unusual, expensive and strange brews mostly from Belgium and other EU spots with one Sam Adams special beer. Too expensive and strange, though. The surprises came with the unannounced changes in policy. Not having been in the mood for caviar on the night it was served we ordered it another night. To our astonishment, the waiter said there is a "cost" for this if not on the night it is served. Also, one must pay per person for any reservations after the first in Prego or Silk Road. We never received any notice of these policy changes. The leg from Sydney to Bali was strange. We wanted to see both the Barrier Reef and the Rain Forest in Cairns but lost the reef excursion due to arrival in port 10 hours late! They blamed the tides (not predicable with tide charts?) and the currents for this loss of one day in Cairns. No other explanation or offer of compensation. Lombok was the pits; their first, and hopefully last, call at this island. Komoko was fun. Darwin was hot and the city blah. The tour to the national park left too late to take in all the sites and again no explanation or compensation. The biggest problem is the tours which are operated by local companies and can be highly variable with poor itineraries and guides. Better to arrange your own through an agent or the source.

The entertainment was the best in have experienced on a ship in recent memory. Their regular singers and dancers, costumes, and set design were superb. Also, the other entertainers brought on board were top notch. I was in a deluxe stateroom with verandah. It was well designed with plenty of storage space for two.

    2/2013 Sydney to Bali
Cruising from Sydney with its Opera House and Harbor Bridge to the Great Barrier Reef, Darwin and the Bali in the lap of luxury with Crystal cruises food and service and renowned speakers is a trip not to be missed.
    Full Review
A couple of nights in Sydney to unwind and immerse yourself in the Aussie culture. Climb the bridge or see an opera or just cruise around the harbor on one of the ferries. Boarding the elegant Crystal Symphony with check in on board made the boarding process so much easier. The cabins were spacious and immaculate. The cabin hostess (or Butler in if you are in a penthouse) were so service oriented and constantly looking to please. The food was excellent and the flavors of the ports of call were introduced into the menu, along with several chefs from the area that offered cooking classes. I loved how the speakers on this cruise talked about the destinations, the Great Barrier Reef, the issues between the US and China and raising bright children. The entertainment selection offered something for everyone - from the tradition full on Broadway shows, to the flutist, comedian and voice impressionist. You could pack light on this itinerary due to the weather and there were laundries on the ship with no extra charges.

Crystal Symphony New Zealand Jan 29, 2013

1/2013 New Zealand North & South Islands
Crystal is my favorite cruise line. The levels of food and service can not be surpassed by any other Ultra Luxury company. Combine those with the large variety of entertainment and it's the very best!
    Full Review
The food in the main dining room was varied and delicious. It was only outdone by my dining experiences in the two alternative restaurants: Prego and Silk Road.
The basic veranda cabins are a little smaller than on the Serenity. (It makes sense; it's a slightly smaller ship.) So pulling the chair out from the vanity table, it bumps into the small coffee table.  But the linens and amenities in the shower are wonderful and the decor is lovely. The loveseat is comfortable.
The Crystal Singers and Dancers are an incredibly talented bunch of people. The Production Shows were very entertaining and the costumes were astonishing.
We especially enjoyed the Avenue Saloon Piano Bar with Mark Farris at the helm.  He asked and remembered people's names so you were greeted when you came in the next time and made to feel part of a "neighborhood bar", like in the old TV series "Cheers" where "Everybody knows your name." He is also incredibly talented with a wonderful voice.
We always have a fabulous time when we sail with Crystal.  They do it right!
Pros The ambience of the ship and attitude and willingness of the staff has become a Crystal Signature feel for me.
