I have been in the travel industry for 9 years and have never been a fan of the all-inclusive resort. Normally the food is mediocre, the activities are redundant, and the people can be rather unappealing. Traveling to Club Med Punta Canaproved me wrong.

My husband I ventured to Club Med Punta Cana in celebration of our 5 year anniversary and our first International trip without our young children. September in the Dominican Republic is hurricane season however you would have never guessed it since it was 90 degrees with a cool breeze the entire time we were there.

When we pulled into the village, we were greeted by about ten employees (GO’s) in three different languages (English, French, and Spanish), welcoming us with cool towels, fresh island fruit juice, and little candies. They transported our baggage directly to our room – we didn’t have to worry about it for a second upon our arrival. We stayed in the Atlantico building – which is right near the Hispanola Restaurant. Perfect location to everything – nothing was further than a 7 minute walk – including the crystal clear waters. We had a large deluxe couples’ room and balcony with a sea view – the size of the walk in closet was unreal for a hotel.  It truly felt like heaven sitting on our balcony facing the beautiful Caribbean Sea.

I thought the resort was simply gorgeous…My husband and I went to Tahiti in 2006 – and I can honestly say that Punta Cana is on par with the beauty of the South Pacific. I couldn’t stop commenting on the serene waters and palm trees. In addition to the stunning beaches, the resort also offered a world renowned L’Occitane Spa. They also had water aerobics in the main pool and Zumba at 4pm outside daily. There are plenty of activities for the sports enthusiasts. However, my ideal vacation is sitting poolside with a fresh mojito in hand. And this was perfect place to do just that!

I had the opportunity to tour the Baby Club Med & Petit Club Med and let me just say that my husband and I are already planning our next Club Med vacation with the kids. Baby Club Med has their own baby water park with a splash pad to keep the little ones cool on a hot day. All of the staff is lovely and they had fun activities planned daily for all of the preschoolers. Such as, a treasure hunt across the village complete with two GO’s dressed as pirates with parrots on their shoulders! We saw the older children (7 and 8 year olds) enjoying kayaking, archery, tennis, pool time, and the circus school (all supervised of course). For parents that want to enjoy their day with their little ones, there is a Pajama Club for an additional charge in the evening. This allows the parents to go out and enjoy Celeste, the after-hours beach bar complete with a disco ball and eclectic music.

My husband is a chef and grew up in the food industry. This can be rather intimidating when I am trying to plan a vacation for us. However, we were very pleased with the culinary offerings at Club Med Punta Cana. The food was well above our expectations and better than any other all-inclusive property that we have been to prior. The buffets were overflowing with options from all over the world. There were American options (hamburgers and french fries), French fare (crepes, pastries, roasted chicken), Caribbean cuisine (white fish Veracruz cooked in a spicy tomato sauce) and many other delicious options to choose from. And unlike many other all-inclusive properties, they do not skimp on the wine with your meal. There are a number of wine refrigerators filled with bottles of red, white and rosé wine. Take as much or as little as you want. They even encourage you to take a bottle to your room with you!  Club Med makes every single aspect of your vacation an experience. I cannot wait to experience another Club Med village soon!
