Elbe river, great itinerary, but choose ship carefully!

Go for the amazing history of the Saxon And Prussian kings, go because Germany is changing, and this is a region less familiar.... After 25 years of reunification, the changes are still in progress, go because this is unique. On my trio we did not sail at all, we were bussed to the various sites, and it was still a great trip. I will try to go again if I have the opportunity and actually sail, but I understand why they keep ships on this difficult river.... The ports and experiences are worth seeing. Choose one of the newerr ships if you can afford it, or the French balcony cabins on this ship as others are small and uncomfortable twin beds, but the crew tries hard and services and food were fine. But keep you expectations low. Staff were good, but not enough of them so service levels suffer.
