Norse Heritage

Beautiful and headstrong, Rinda personifies the hard, frozen earth. She is the daughter of Billing, King of the Ruthenians, and wife of Odin, father of the gods. With Odin, Rinda has a son, Vali, whose destiny is to avenge the death of Odin’s older son, Baldur. When Baldur is killed with a branch of mistletoe by his blind brother Hodur, Odin learns of a prophecy that Vali, son of Rinda, would avenge Baldur’s death by slaying Hodur. And so Odin sets out to win Rinda’s hand, in order that the prophecy be fulfilled. Nine months after they marry, their son Vali is born. As foretold, Vali grows into a man in just one day, and travels to Asgard, home of the gods, where he kills Hodur with his bow and arrow.

Paris to Normandy

| France
Overall the cruise was very nice. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. I think the rooms are a little small, but were satisfactory . I will more than likely take another Viking cruise, because it is a great way to see Europe.

Very good with one big exception

| Paris, Rouen, Giverny and Normandy beaches.
I am somewhat disappointed with Viking. Most of my complaints are minor. However my biggest complaint was that they advertise a stay on the boat in Paris on the first and last nights. The boat was NOT in Paris. It was in a suburb resulting in a bus ride of anywhere from 30 minutes to as long as 2 hours. This is not good. Added to shore excursions that were too long made for an exhausting and not relaxing vacation. Shuttle buses to and from Paris were only pick up and drop off separated by six to eight hours. Thus on our own on day one we chose to pay for a cab to return to the boat early. I don't care if they charge more for the cruise. They absolutely need to dock closer to the city. The promotional information is therefore misleading.

Viking Longship Rhinda

| Monet's Garden--Normady Beaches
This was my favorite of all the river trips I have taken. Of course the places visited were very special to me in many ways. The ship and crew left nothing to be desired.
