Silversea Silver Shadow

4.8/5 |

Third in the Silversea fleet of ships, the Silversea Silver Shadow introduced guests to the next generation of Silversea cruising while maintaining Silversea’s award-winning, ultra-luxurious and intimate ambiance. The only difference between the Silver Shadow and its predecessors is its large size, which doesn’t sacrifice the high space-to passenger and passenger-to-crew ratios the luxury cruise liner is known for.

Each time the luxury cruise liner embarks on a new voyage, 382 guests are welcomed aboard the ship by a professional and attentive crew. Known for being small enough to offer an intimate cruise experience while being large enough to provide a wide range of onboard experiences, guests on the Silver Shadow cruise ship can choose from multiple venues for dining and entertainment. From bars and casinos to live, nightly entertainment and libraries, this luxury cruise liner was built with entertainment in mind.

In addition to a number of entertainment and activity options, the Silversea Silver Shadow is known for its dining. Guests can choose from four restaurants, each with a menu guaranteed to satisfy hungers of all sizes. Wellness, vegetarian, and gluten-free options are available, and guests with special dietary requests or limitations will have the opportunity to meet with the chef upon embarkation.

Perfect for well-traveled couples who enjoy the finer things in life, the Silver Shadow cruise ship offers the luxuries of a private yacht, the amenities of a country club, and the fine services of an exclusive hotel in one convenient package. All accommodations come with complimentary butler service, a bar stocked to your liking, European bath amenities, and the finest in linens and duvets. Whether you’re interested in experiencing the phenomenon of the Australian Outback or the majestic views of the Alaskan landscape, allow the crew and amenities of the Silversea Silver Shadow to pamper you throughout.

Small Ship Cruising Is The Way To Go

| Cozumel & Costa Maya, Mexico; Guatemala; Honduras; Belize; Key West, Florida.
Overall our experience on the Silver Shadow was far above previous large ship cruises. Excellent customer service, general food quality, the all inclusive nature of the package and the low passenger count made our voyage a relaxing and memorable one. For example, when one of the bartenders (Alphonso) found out they did not have our favorite after dinner liquor the first night of the cruise, he went out during the first stop and bought it for us. Now that is great customer service! Embarking and disembarking were quick and easy. The ship was pristine, although some areas were in need of repair, for example the rail on our veranda needed to be refinished. Although we did not use the butler service too much, it was nice having it available if needed. A nice touch was the cleaning/disinfecting of our suitcases the night before disembarking.

Voices of Silversea - an amazingly talented group of youg performers. They were great.

Silver Shadow 9 night Caribbean cruise

| Caribbean
Our experience was a pure delight! The suite size with a walk-in closet has spoiled us forever. Each meal was amazing as if we were dining at our favorite 5 star restaurants. We really appreciated the overall friendly, knowledgeable and attentive staff and crew. SilverSea really knows how to do "All-Inclusive" with class and expertise.

Really GREAT cruise!

Alaska Inside Passage Silver Shadow Thumbs Up

| Alaska
The ship is simply perfect. The perfect size to get to know fellow passengers. The perfect variety of restaurants. the staff and officers were beyond professional. The perfect entertainment and enrichment lectures.  We had an astronomer onboard and viewed the Northern Lights while in Alaska.  What a bonus. We had the perfect Butlers. The perfect stress free luxury cruise.  Typically I am critical and this Silversea cruise experience was just - so easy does it.

Outstanding cruise

| Anchorage, Seward, Sitka, Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan, Vancouver
As first-time cruisers, with one traveler very nervous about motion sickness, our travel agent did an excellent job of navigating us through the world of cruising. He recommended SilverSea and it was a perfect fit for our group, which comprised one couple in their early 80s and one couple in their early 50s. He picked out the perfect cabins - 641 and 639, which happened to be about 1 1/2 feet wider than all the other cabins on that deck. He also arranged for a private tour in Skagway and gave recommendations on other tours to book through his firm and through SilverSea. He took care of everything from start to finish and made this splurge of a vacation effortless. The Silver Shadow is a beautiful ship and the staff pamper the guests to an almost embarrassing degree. It was fun getting to know them and seeing the genuine enjoyment the staff has working together and interacting with the guests. Our butler, Kiran, arranged for a private tour of the galley with the executive chef, which was a special treat. The port excursions were well organized and well executed. The on-board naturalist gave informative and entertaining lectures. There is an on-board professional shopper (Phillip) for those planning on purchasing jewelry in Alaska. All in all, this was an outstanding vacation. I recommend SilverSea highly.

Great Time on Alaska Cruise

| Alaska Cruise: Steward to Vancouver, 7 nights
Everything was great including the WEATHER! Only one rain day and it was slight rain.

Terrific ship, crew, service, food!

| Vietnam, Bangkok and Singapore
I would definitely take another Silversea cruise in the future. Ports were exotic and shore excursions were mostly well run and excellent choices. Pouring rain while riding the elephant in Koh Samui was an adventure of a lifetime.

Silversea Shadow September 5, 2023

| Canada/New England
We departed Quebec City and finished 10 nights later in NYC.  Pier 90. My favorite stop was Newport, Rhode Island and my 2nd favorite was Peggy's Cove in Nova Scotia.  Simply beautiful.  September 5, 2023 was a lil too early this year to see any leaves changing.  If you want to see color I would elect to sail mid September- mid October MAX.
We had outstanding service with all such beautiful smiles.  Small ships are becoming more enjoyable as my years on this earth climb.  Highly recommend a SILVERSEA experience.
NOTHING to report that was Negative.

Trip of a Lifetime

| Alaska
It was an exceptional experience from beginning to end. There are not words to describe the beauty of Alaska and everything the ship and staff does to make the trip outstanding.

Great experience

| Ketchikan, Skagway, Sitka, and Anchorage, Alaska
The staff is exceptional and very attentive. There are many activities onboard as well like trivia, the casino, cooking lessons, movie screening, and auctions. The wide variety of food makes it hard to choose what to eat because it all tastes so delicious.

Silver Shadow Review --- cruise through Panama Canal and down West coast of central americaq

| west coast of central america
Great ship with middle of the road dinners. Tours in Peru and Eciuador did the best of what was available but the ports were mostly desert ports and run down.

Asia to Alaska aboard the Silver Shadow

| Asia to Alaska
This is a wonderful way to see some of Asia, then begin the Alaska season. I cannot say enough about the level of service afforded guests onboard this ship. A truly enjoyable experience.

Cruise to Alaska, June 30 on Silver Shadow

| Alaska
There were 262 guests on this ship on this cruise where the ship can accommodate @380 guests. With reduced numbers service was enhanced and all onboard performed well.

Super Cruising

| Alaska
We enjoyed this adventure, first time on this line of Cruise ships. We would definitely recommend this ship. Might have had a little more and better entertainment but not a big deal. We loved the walk in closet and large bathroom. Very accommodating if you needed something at all. Enjoyed it but ready to get off after 7 days! Always put the train first as we were too tired at the end for anything like a train.

A country club at Sea

| Europe

Silversea Shadow will be dry docked in Nov 2019 , so it is no surprise that it is in need of some sprucing up. Silversea met the challenge of providing a great cruise experience. The cabins are well-appointed, with walk-in closets, bathtubs and separate showers. Lounge area with desk, couch and coffee table were spacious. I loved multiple choices of toiletries. Wifi worked well and was included in our package. The intimate size of the ship and guest/ staff ration made it feel like a country club at sea. Where Silversea really excelled is in first-class service. Our buttler anticipated our every need. Staff at the pool and other main areas were attentive with beverages. The remodeling of the La Dame restaurant, Connoisseur's Corner and the casino will be well received. Dining was like being in a five-star restaurant with a nice lounge/ bar for a pre-dinner drink. When in port it was a seamless experience getting on and off the ship. The access to bottled water and beach towels when boarding and exiting the ship was a nice touch. Nightlife and activities could be more varied and plentiful. The DJ/Disco area was busy with the same small crowd each night, so, apparently, that was not something that would need expansion. Staff were attentive, however, sometimes apparently harried and inexperienced. When dining in the main dining room the staff did not seem knowledgeable of the menu and had difficulty using the ipad when completing orders. The constant asking for cabin numbers was annoying. Even restaurants that were serving buffet style needed the information prior to seating you. I found the scheduled times for lunch limiting, and the pool should have service throughout the day. We were told we could order in our rooms or  Butler could provide service on deck. With the new Arts Café, I trust this will not the case anymore. Shopping was very limited and the casino was deserted, however, it sounds like that will be addressed with the refurbishing. Excited to see the new Open-plan atrium. Spa and fitness activities while somewhat limited and small but were adequate. Outdoor dining was a true treat however in need of some more outdoor heaters. The outdoor jogging/walking path could be improved with a better location. The day at sea it was very clogged with people trying to place chairs in the path. The overall journey was a fabulous experience and I highly recommended it.

Silver Shadow Review July 9-16, 2015

| Alaska
The staff aboard the Silver shadow was extremely helpful and went out of their way to make sure all passengers thoroughly enjoyed their cruise experience.
Our Butler was just incredible and  thought of everything even before we could mention many things.
We could not say enough for him.  The wait staff was knowledgeable and polite as well as extremely attentive.
The cuisine was fabulous and can honestly say there are no complaints.
Overall a wonderful destination on a wonderful ship.

July 16th 2015 Alaska Cruise from Vancouver to Anchorage

| Alaska
This was my 3rd experience on Silversea and the cruise was exactly what I expected of the product.

Silversea Silver Shadow

| Alaska Vancouver To Seward
Silver Shadow provides a wonderful cruise experience, with just 382 guests and a crew of 302. Accommodations are spacious, modern and well equipped-sitting area/walk in closet/comfy bed/large bath with a full size tub and walk in shower. The entire staff is anxious to please and take care of every detail, from dining to bars to front desk to shore excursion desk. The butler service is outstanding, very attentive and ready to do anything needed to make your in cabin experiences perfect. Dining options offer a nice variety-with "The Restaurant" providing very attentive service and formal full menu/course style experience.  LaTerrazza offers casual buffet options for breakfast and lunch.  For dinner, fabulous Italian fare is served from an extensive menu, with local wines to fully compliment the meal .  The pool area "Grill" provides an interesting "hot rock", cook your own dinner experience...not to be missed.   Silversea delivers a true vacation experience and escape from daily stress and demands.
