Australian Cruise

A Silversea Cruise to Australia is a wonderful way to experience the comfort of a world-class luxury cruise while sailing to some of the most incredible landscapes in the world. From the Great Barrier Reef to the oldest living civilization, Australia is home to some of the world’s most spectacular sights. With deserts, mountains, urban landscapes, and rainforests conveniently located within one country, a Silversea Australian cruise is the perfect way for cruisers to experience everything Australia has to offer.

With smaller-than-average ships, Silversea is one of the few cruise lines that are permitted to land in certain “hotspots” of biodiversity. While other ships may be too large to navigate the narrow corridors and protected landscapes of Australia and New Zealand, Silversea’s ships are small enough to enter these areas without disrupting the local habitats. As a result, Silversea passengers will have an up-close and personal look at Australia’s unmatched scenery, natural habitats, and breathtaking sights.

Silversea Discoverer, Whisper, & Shadow

Depending on the exact cruise chosen, your Silversea Cruise will take you on board the Discoverer, Whisper, or Shadow. Due to its small size, the Silversea Silver Discoverer is the perfect platform for viewing the untamed landscapes of Australia- her shallow draft allows her to navigate closer to shore, so cruisers can experience the natural beauty of the country up-close. The Silversea Silver Whisper takes Silversea’s award-winning concept of all-suite luxury to the next level with a cosmopolitan ambiance and a variety of special amenities, including boutique shopping and full-scale productions. Finally, the Silversea Silver Shadow offers the luxuries of a private yacht, the amenities of a country club, and the fine services of an exclusive hotel in one convenient package.

Things to Do in Australia

Miles and miles of pristine beaches and gorgeous backdrops make Australia the perfect destination for those who want to relax and unwind. The Kimberley Coast is larger than 75 percent of the world’s countries, and is hemmed by miles of impenetrable coastline and unforgiving deserts. With nature hikes and guided tours galore, the Kimberley Coast is the ideal destination for explorers searching for a real outback experience. Similarly, Broome is home to the iconic Cable Beach, gorgeous sunsets, and pristine watering holes. Depending on the itinerary of the cruise you choose, visits to both may be in your future.

Australia may be known for its wildlife and natural landscapes, but land excursions in Sydney and Auckland are sure to delight those interested in nightlife, shopping, and urban culture. The world-famous Sydney Opera House has a rotating list of events and offers guided tours in seven different languages, while the streets of Auckland are lined with bars and cafes featuring cuisine from around the world. From the world-class cuisine of Auckland to the kangaroos, koalas, and impeccable scenery of the Outback, there’s something for everyone on a Silversea Australian cruise.

Australian Cruise Tips

Unless you’re on a very tight schedule, take shore excursions in capital cities when you can; these cities are full of things to do, and you won’t regret setting aside an entire day to explore.  Since Australia is such a vast and multifaceted land, a land-based stay either before or after your cruise is a must. Whether it’s a day-trip to the Great Barrier Reef or extra time in the Outback, you can maximize your time on the ground by traveling between cities by air. If cost is a concern, there are plenty of economical flight options available.

Visitors from the United States and Canada will need an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA), which can be applied for online. An ETA will allow you to visit Australia as many times as you wish for up to 12 months, and stay for up to three months each visit. Note: if your cruise is less than 30 days and leaves from and returns to Australia, you’re considered a “round tripper”, which means that for immigration purposes you haven’t left the country. For more information about visas and ETAs, visit the Australian Government’s Visa Wizard website.
