Activities & Services

Every day aboard Queen Mary 2 is an invitation to experience exciting opportunities. There's always something new to try, from ballroom dance classes to Illuminations, the only planetarium at sea. Browse original works from great 20th century artists, or learn how to mix the perfect martini. Take a lesson in watercolor painting, or try your hand at photography. For a traditional afternoon, take a break and head to the Queens Room for afternoon tea, where white-gloved waiters serving you fresh scones and English tea. Evenings also offer limitless experiences and myriad entertainment. The Empire Casino is waiting when you feel lucky, or try your hand at karaoke at the Golden Lion Pub.

During your voyage, you will meet staff throughout the ship who provide you with excellent service. Many more crew support those who serve you directly. A discretionary Hotel and Dining charge will be added to your shipboard account on a daily basis for each passenger (including children). This charge will be shared amongst all those who help provide and support your experience, including the waitstaff, stateroom stewards, buffet stewards, and others. Please note, this is a discretionary charge and should you wish to remove it or make any adjustments, you may contact the Purser?s Desk before the end of the cruise.

  • Grill Accommodations: $13.50 USD per person per day?
  • Britannia Accommodations: $11.50 USD per person per day?

Note: Casino dealers and Spa personnel do not share in the Hotel and Dining charge as not all guests utilize these services.

  • Special Dietary Needs - Advance Notice Required - If a passenger has special dietary needs, Cunard must be advised at time of booking or, at the latest, six weeks before sailing. Every effort will be made to comply with such requests.

  • Smoking Policy - The safety, comfort and enjoyment of all passengers has always been a key concern at Cunard. With this in mind, smoking is no longer permitted in any public area with the exception of Churchill?s Cigar Lounge and the upper level of G32. Pipe and cigar smoking is only permitted in Churchill?s Cigar Lounge and on the permitted open decks spaces.

Smoking is not permitted in staterooms or on stateroom balconies.

Electronic cigarettes may be used in staterooms and on stateroom balconies. However, they are not permitted in non-smoking public areas. Electronic cigarettes that emit a vapor should be used in designated smoking areas only.

  • Internet Access - Guests may access the Internet in each ship?s Internet Centre. Passengers with laptops may access the web via the ship's wireless network, available in every stateroom as well as many public rooms. Charges apply for these services.

  • Pregnancy Policy - Because onboard medical facilities are limited and shoreside medical care is not always readily available, Cunard Line will not be able to carry passengers who will be 24 weeks or more pregnant by the end of the intended voyage.

  • Wheelchair Access & Special Needs - All passengers requiring specific assistance, facilities, or equipment on board must advise Cunard Line at the time of booking, and are requested to complete a questionnaire after booking, to ensure they have all the information needed to cater adequately for your requirements.

If you need to bring a wheelchair or mobility scooter on board with you, it is essential that you let Cunard Line know at the time of booking or as soon as the need is known. Any passengers requiring the use of a wheelchair, mobility scooter, or other aids to mobility must provide their own. For the safety of everyone on board and the ship, all wheelchairs, scooters and other aids to mobility, as is the case with all passenger possessions, must be stored inside your stateroom when not in use. Failure to comply with this important safety rule may mean you are disembarked and refused future travel. Part time wheelchair user traveling in a non-wheelchair accessible stateroom must bring a collapsible wheelchair to ensure it can safely fit through the stateroom door and be accommodated in the stateroom. It is not possible to make structural changes to the stateroom layout. Cunard Line reserves the right to require passengers who have booked this accommodation without legitimate reason to move, at their own expense, if necessary.

Mobility scooters will only be permitted on board if passengers have booked into a wheelchair accessible stateroom, or a suite, as these are the only types of accommodations where mobility scooters can safely be stored. The minimum door width of suites is 53 cm (21 in). The minimum door width of the wheelchair accessible staterooms is 80 cm (31 in). At the time of booking, please let Cunard Line know if you intend on bringing a mobility scooter with you, and they will in turn provide you with a questionnaire for completion to ensure that the accommodation you have booked is appropriate. Please note that wheelchair accessible staterooms are strictly reserved for passengers who are bringing wheelchairs or mobility scooters or who have a requirement for the adapted facilities offered by these staterooms.

A ship is not always the easiest environment for using a wheelchair or mobility scooter. Although the crew is helpful, they are only able to provide limited assistance to help you in moving around the ship. For this reason, and in order to ensure the safety of the passenger, the ship and all others on board, it is recommended that passengers with disabilities, who require personal assistance in the activities of daily living, including pushing a wheelchair or communication support, be accompanied by a personal assistant or traveling companion to provide these services. Blind/Visually Impaired passengers are recommended to travel with a companion who can help you get your bearings and assist you both on board and ashore. The crew can provide limited arm assistance, and information or directions, but cannot provide sustained or long term assistance.

Please note that due to applicable safety requirements, the design of the ship or port infrastructure and equipment, in certain ports of call it may not be possible for Cunard Line to offer a shore excursion program, or shuttle bus service, suitable for passengers who are not able to board a coach via the steps with only the aid of their traveling companion.

Cunard Line reserves the right to refuse passage to any Passenger who has failed to notify Cunard Line of their requirement for special treatment or assistance (including the requirement to use a wheelchair or mobility scooter ). For further information about traveling with disabilities, please contact the specialist Care Access Team at (800)728-6273 (Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm PT) or via email at accessoffice@cunard.com.

    Mobility Ashore

When choosing your voyage please bear in mind that it may not be possible for wheelchair users to get ashore at ports of call. At the majority of ports visited by the ships, Cunard Line deploys a short ramped low-level gangway, commonly referred to as the ship?s brow. This is normally due to ports with a large tidal range, where a relatively shallow ramp may unavoidably become too steep to use safely during the course of the day with tidal movements. Some examples of ports with a large tidal range (but not an exhaustive list) are: Bilb?o, Brest, La Coru?a, Le Havre, La Rochelle, Lisbon, Vigo, Zeebrugge, Canary Island ports, Hamburg, Boston, Halifax, Portland, Qu?bec, Darwin, Lisbon, Mumbai and San Francisco.

At ports where it is not possible to use the ship?s brow, all access to shore will be by a narrow stepped gangway known as the accommodation ladder, that pivots to take account of the tide. When the accommodation ladder is in use, you will need some independent mobility in order to walk down the gangway. Each of the ships carries a wheelchair ?stair climbing? machine which, where appropriate, may be used to allow wheelchair users to go ashore provided they transfer between their own wheelchair and the wheelchair that is fitted to the stair climber at the top and bottom of the accommodation ladder. The stair climber cannot be used with electric wheelchairs ? these will need to be taken ashore separately.

    Service Animals

Cunard is pleased to permit individuals to bring service animals on board. You must provide notice of the time of booking. Local laws or customs may prevent animals from disembarking at particular ports or countries. It is the passenger's responsibility to consult local customs authorities for requirements and to obtain all applicable documents and health certificates. Service animals are kept in staterooms with their owners.

European Tour

Wonderful experience. The QM2 was elegant and majestic. We loved the hotel suggested by our travel guide in London, across from Kensington Palace and the Queen's Garden. All transfers and arrangements met and exceeded our expectations.

VOYAGE OF A LIFETIME!

| LONDON
SO HAPPY WITH MY TRIP, BONDING WITH MY DAUGHTER

Transatlantic cruise

| transatlantic from Southampton to New York
The only thing that was not really good was the food. While it was good we expected better food in the Queens Grille. The dining room staff went out of their way to accomodate special requests but invariably the vegetables were overcooked and the special dishes like Sole Meuniere were just average.

It was.a great trip to cruise on the Queen Mary for our 60th Anniversary, and my Birthday. We also sailed on our 50th Anniversary. Maybe we will be able to sail on our 70th.????? Our cabin was situaited near everything close to get to, thanks to our Travel Agent. World Wide Travel. We took 2 Tours at Tortola and Amber Cove, which we enjoyed very much.

No comments except to say that this is not a cruise ship - this is an ocean liner

| TRANS ATLANTIC ROUND TRIP NY....SOUTH HAMPTON
LOVELY WAY TO TRAVEL...

Perfect way to make a transition

| Southampton (on our way to Paris)
We were making a transition between works seasons, and between homes (in the US and France.) Usually we make this trip in a hurry, but this year we used the occasions of my husband's birthday to go by way of this sea crossing. Everything was top-rate on the QM2. We quickly found new friends for meals, a great jazz combo for after dinner music, and danced until the late hours more than once. The staff was professional but warm, and our slight problems were quickly remedied. We could have lamented the weather, but it was standard for mid-May. This meant there was little time in the sun, but this was made up for by two moderate wind storms which just enhanced our sense of the sea and its beauty. We're already looking forward to our next ship-board vacation.

TransAtlantic

| New York
Food quality is very uneven, more display then substance

New England Cruise

| Boston, Newport, Bar Harbor, St. John, NB(cancelled), Quebec City
A pleasant trip for us for good relaxation which was our intent. But there were too many days at sea, and one port was canceled for weather. But only one day was scheduled for Quebec city. On our previous trip to Quebec, the QM2 scheduled 1 1/2 days which gave everyone more time in this important port. (We notice that for this same cruise next year they have scheduled 3 days, which to me sounds excessive.). We were in the Princess Grill. The service was excellent and very pleasant, But the food was not as good generally as in the past. Our cabin was clean and very comfortable and our steward was excellent

| Round trip New York
A truly wonderful ship with superb entertainment of all types.

My favorite ship Ive cruised on

| Hong Kong, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, India, UAE
There are no other ships that I could consider spending months on but this one. The most relaxing and wonderful vacation we have ever had. We will definitely sail on the QM2 again

Hamburg and Berlin

| Hamburg & Berlin
Cunard are hoping to add land tours to it's repertoire. We sailed from Southampton and disembarked in Hamburg, the ship carried on up to Norway. We travelled by coach to Berlin where we spent 2 nights, we then returned to Hamburg for 2 nights before re-embarking Queen Mary 2 for the return to Southampton. The cruise and land tour were excellent, the staff were very friendly, helpful and knowledgable. The city tours were excellent. Hotels were good and in great positions. Although classed as 5 * in Germany, in my opinion they are not 5 but 4 *. Overall the trip was excellent, the sailaway from Hamburg was a real surprise as hundreds of boats formed a flotilla to escort us up the river with some 5 firework displays charting our course up the river.

Most fun I ever had

| Southhampton
Loved the lectures, theater, cabaret.

Great Crossing

| France
Our second time on QM2 and it is a great way to cross the Atlantic = fun of a cruise and no jet lag on arrival in Europe.

What's not to like?

| Southampton UK
Flawless. Loved the Spa.

Queen Mary 2 is Cunard’s flagship and the most magnificent ocean liner ever built. A Transatlantic Crossing to or from New York on this incredible ship is a holiday like no other but her cruises from Southampton are also very special.  She offers so much space on board and such an array of state of the art facilities including a 3D Cinema, planetarium and a superb spa.
