Viking Cruises orders two new ocean ships

Viking Cruises has firmed up a contract to take delivery of two new ocean cruise ships, in 2024 and 2025. The deal with Fincantieri follows an initial agreement with the shipbuilder last year for the construction of six ships. The ships will accommodate 930 guests in 465 cabins. It takes Viking's collaboration with Fincantieri to a potential 20 vessels in a partnership which began in 2012. It is the biggest partnership between a shipbuilder and a single cruise line in the industry ever. It took delivery of the Viking Star back in 2015 and has since received Viking Sea, Viking Sky, Viking Sun, Viking Orion, and Viking Jupiter just last month. The outstanding ships, and options if they are confirmed, will be delivered between 2021 and 2027. The line also ordered two expedition cruise ships last year, with an option for two more.
