I haven’t been this excited to stay in a new hotel in a long time.  The Beekman, a Thompson Hotel, is located in downtown Manhattan. The property is situated near the financial district, between the East and Hudson Rivers, and in the shadows of the Brooklyn Bridge.  This is an area of NYC that used to be fun for a drink after work, then asleep by 7pm, but is quickly evolving into one of the trendiest areas of town.

The Beekman, built in the late 1800’s was complete remodeled and restored, opening In Sept 2016 to much acclaim and supported by the Signature FIRST program. The hotel is edgy and chic, but the building is a classic and historic landmark. I was happy to just have a chance to stay at this new iconic hotel, I was surprised and delighted by my Signature
Complimentary upgrade (The fact that Ignacio was my agent of record might have helped!).

While I saw all categories of rooms -all of them beautiful, well-appointed and with incredible amenities, I was taken to room 1005, a room I have affectionately renamed “the church.” Room 1005 is located on...you guessed it, the 10th floor, but the main elevator only goes to the 9th floor.  There is an easy stair case to another elevator that will take you to the 10th floor, where the fun really begins. I turned the corner, through a door,  and WOW! I was on the roof of the Beekman.  The Penthouse has a beautiful outdoor entrance path with heated tiles, to ensure your walk is safe.  In front of you, you will see Penthouse room 1005, with its 50 foot high turret.  Inside the room the feeling is incredibly cozy (the “coolest space” I have seen in NYC) and a warm, welcoming living space.   The room features a small living and dining room on the ground floor, along with 1.5 baths.  The bedroom is on the second level, an open loft space above the living room, with a perfect bed and freestanding bathtub (I wouldn’t fit!).

Above the bedroom is the most unbelievable chandelier hanging from the top of the steeple, creating a magical space and experience. Book your clients at the Beekman if they are up for a hip and edgy experience in a spectacularly beautiful and historic building with service to match! And - If they really want an adventure - book them in “the church”!
