11 Cool and Stunning Hotels Opening in 2018

If your goal for the new year is to travel more, the most difficult part will be choosing your destination. On top of the endless wanderlust inspiration you see on Instagram, 2018 already looks like it's going to be filled with amazing hotel openings, from a minimalist glass pod to an eco-friendly paradise. Get a look at 11 new cool and breathtaking properties around the world.
1) Hotel Xcaret (Riviera Maya, Mexico) - Hotel Xcaret was previously set to open at the beginning of 2018, but bumped its date to December 2017 to allow guests an earlier look. Experiencias Xcaret Group, those behind Riviera Maya's eco-amusement parks, are responsible for this 900-suite, all-inclusive resort. Hotel Xcaret is now the first resort with direct access to all eight parks, which offer everything from cave diving to nighttime jungle excursions. Guests are able to enjoy hidden coves, white-sand beaches, as well as 18 bars and restaurants. Opened December 2017
2) Pod Times Square (New York, New York) - The same hotel group, BD Hotels, behind properties like The Bowery and The Mercer will be opening its flagship Pod Hotel in the heart of New York City. Pod Times Square, which will be the micro-hotel's fifth addition, is to offer 665 (115-square-foot) rooms over 28 floors. Forty-five Pod Pads, varying from 600 to 800 square feet, will also be available to those interested in extended-stay options. Slated to open early 2018
3) Hotel Amapa (Puerto Vallarta, Mexico) - Located in the historic old town of Puerto Vallarta, Hotel Amapa will embrace both traditional Mexican aesthetics and minimal, contemporary design. In addition to a rooftop pool and bar, the Design Hotels property will provide several food and beverage options that highlight local flavors. All 55 rooms, one block from Playa Los Muertos, will embody a laid-back, homey vibe. Slated to open February 2018
4) North Canterbury PurePod (North Canterbury, New Zealand) - Sustainable and minimalist-luxury hotel company PurePods plans to add two more locations along the North Canterbury Coastline. Just like the existing Pods, the newest cabins will be made of heavy-duty glass, with sliding doors on three sides, completely isolated, and powered by solar energy. Guests will enjoy a unique travel experience while being completely immersed in nature as each location offers dramatic landscapes and stunning views. Slated to open February 2018
5) The Shanghai EDITION (Shanghai, China) - The Shanghai EDITION will be just a five-minute walk from The Bund, boasting 145 stunning rooms across two separate towers. The hotel's features will include 10 levels of public space, including five meeting studios and two forums. A signature Japanese restaurant on the 27th floor, a Cantonese dining venue (featuring five private dining rooms), three lounge bars, two rooftop bars, and more can be expected. Slated to open mid 2018
6) The Times Square EDITION (New York, New York) - Located on Seventh Avenue, the Times Square EDITION will offer 452 guest rooms along with four levels of public space, including a 5,000-square-foot performance venue. Its signature restaurant will open to a 5,800-square-foot beer garden and event deck overlooking Times Square. Slated to open mid 2018
7) DTLA Proper Hotel (Los Angeles, California) - Housed in the former YWCA building on the Historic Broadway Corridor will be the Downtown LA Proper Hotel, a new kind of high-end hospitality experience from Proper Hotels. The property will include two ground-floor restaurants, a rooftop pool and lounge, a fourth-floor library with the building's original ceiling frescos, a Hollywood screening room (which was formerly the historic basketball court), an indoor swimming pool, and more. Slated to open Summer 2018
8) TRS Coral Hotel (Cancun, Mexico) - This adults-only, luxury five-star hotel will sit on the white sandy beach of Costa Mujeres. TRS Coral is eco-friendly, all-inclusive, and only a half-hour drive from Cancún and its international airport. Each of its 469 rooms will offer a balcony or furnished terrace, hydro massages, and of course, stunning views. Other amenities will include seven themed restaurants, three bars, a 24-hour sports bar, live gastronomic shows, a private beach club, an amphitheater, and more. Slated to open Fall 2018
9) Grand Palladium Costa Mujeres Resort & Spa (Cancun, Mexico) - Guests of the Grand Palladium Costa Mujeres Resort & Spa will be able to enjoy all-inclusive luxury while being surrounded by virgin mangroves, wild fauna, and flora. The five-star beachfront hotel will be situated on Costa Mujeres beach, offering 592 rooms with a balcony or terrace like its adults-only sister, TRS Coral Hotel. This property will also feature many of the same amenities with the addition of a children's pool and kid's club. Slated to open Fall 2018
10) Regent Jakarta (Jakarta, Indonesia) - Regent Hotels & Resorts, with developer KG Global Development, will launch its eighth luxury property and residential project in the heart of Indonesia's capital city. Regent Jakartawill offer 126 guest rooms and suites, 107 exclusive residences, meeting facilities, and dining — all of which will infuse the region's culture and traditions. Guests will also get to enjoy a library bar, the luxurious Regent Spa, wellness facilities, and other amenities. Slated to open late 2018
11) The West Hollywood EDITION (Los Angeles, California) - The West Hollywood EDITION will be located on West Sunset Boulevard and boast 190 guest rooms, 20 luxury residences, and over 5,200-square feet of meeting space. Some of its highlights include a rooftop venue, a nightclub/bar, a rooftop pool/pool deck, and a signature restaurant. Slated to open late 2018
