Experience Egypt on a Nile River Cruise

After selling travel for over 25 years, we’ve developed eyes for travel trends, which come and go almost as quickly as their counterparts in the fashion industry. What’s hot right now (and hotter then it’s ever been) is Egypt.

Most have already had a small taste of Egypt, whether at a museums or traveling exhibitions, or while watching the National Geographic channel and their excursions deep into its Indiana Jones-esq tombs. But seeing these Wonders of the World firsthand is an experience people are traveling from great distances to witness and now, it’s easier, safer, and more relaxing then ever!

One of the best and newest ways to experience Egypt’s treasures is on a Nile River Cruise, a majority of which go from Luxor to Aswan (about 120 miles). The stretch between these two cities is one of the archeologically richest in the world, as it includes the Valley of the Kings (Tutankhamen’s tomb), and the temples of Luxor, Kom Ombo, and Philae.

The Tomb of Tutankhamen is perhaps the crowd favorite as the legendary king’s body is on display in a temperature-controlled glass case. No cameras or even tour guides are allowed in. Across the river on the east bank are two other sites not to be missed: the Temple of Luxor and the Temple of Karnak – the largest ancient religious site in the world.

Though it may seem you’ll spend a majority of your trip trekking the desert and climbing through tombs, aboard a river cruise you’re also able to sip iced beverages on a shaded deck while watching the timeless landscape of North Africa pass you by.
