The food and drink were great all the time! The service was impeccable and the staff was more than accommodating all the time.
The one thing that was lacking was the pool and disco. The first day at sea the pool was empty of its water, due to rough seas? But it was more windy than rough waters! The pool is an afterthought as far as I’m concerned. It is really tiny!
The disco is basically a 10’ x 12’ piece of parkay flooring on the 8th floor of the back of the boat where they serve High Tea. The band was great, but they were done by 11pm. I know the demographics aren’t 20 somethings, but this 40 something did not want to be in bed at 9 pm! We made so many friends by the end of the cruise we had our own private party every night at the disco!
We thought that the Marquesas Islands were a bit lacking of things to do. We did have a nice excursion with Professor Eddows who was very thorough with his knowledge of the civilization and its gruesome rituals.
I think that we didn’t need 2 days in Rangiroa. The cruise would have been better if it started in Papeete, then Moorea, then a day at sea, then 2 Days at Bora Bora, then one day Tahaa, and then 2 days at sea and ended with one night at one of the Marquesas Islands, and one night at Rangiroa. We were half way through the cruise before we hit Bora Bora and that was one of the islands we wanted to revisit longer.
Due to it being Sunday, the excursion to the Bora Bora Lagooniauriun was cancelled as they are not open that day. Bloody Mary’s restaurant was also closed on Sunday. So maybe the ship should visit Bora Bora any day but Sunday! The whole ship was looking forward to Bloody Mary’s dinner!!
I had seen a pareo, 7 years ago at the Lagooniarium’s gift shop, and wanted to go back to get that pareo. When I saw that our excursion there had been cancelled I was crushed! Then when I asked the Travel Concierge about reservations at Bloody Mary’s and told they weren’t open on Sundays I was double crushed!
Needless to say, I found the pareo at the Bora Bora Boutique which is new and next to the Gallery shop!!!! I’ve dreamed of this pareo and even looked at every website that carries pareos and wraps! It totally made my trip when I found it. I didn’t even care to get more black pearls!!!!
Scot did get me some teal black pearl earring set in silver with crystal at the Tahaa pearl farm that we toured. It goes with the suite of earrings, necklace, and ring that he bought me 7 years ago on July 14th which is Bastille Day! Funny thing was that it was also Bastille Day July 14th this year when we visited Tahaa!
It’s becoming a tradition!!! LOL!
The ship had plenty of things to eat and drink. Sometimes we couldn’t wait to get back on the ship and eat! We turned into grazing sheep! I can only imagine what the crew refers to us as! It’s like Pavlov’s Dog. Ring the bell and the dog salivates!!!
I contacted the Regent information website as I wanted to know if and where I could buy the lotion that is in the staterooms. It isn’t available for purchase. I told them that they could make a lot of money by carrying it in the boutique and spa shop. I loved it! They quickly said that they have had discussions about selling their products on board, but until then I would have to book another cruise in order to enjoy the lotion!!
HA HA! I replied back that I needed to visit the Betty Ford clinic for an 8 week stint, (which is a few miles from my home) before I could book another Regent cruise!
Maureen and Roy Jones were our hosts for the Private Collections travel group. They were very gracious at the cocktail party and during excursions that they were on with us.
And thank you for the Shipboard credit! That was a pleasant surprise!
Thanks for the great service you provided during the whole planning and booking phase of our Anniversary trip! If I hadn’t gotten sick on the last day, which was the day of our Anniversary, the whole trip would have been perfect.
Disembarkment was torture, I developed a migraine from the smell of exhaust in our cabin and I was sick to my stomach and throwing up from 4:30 am on! There was no where for me to get away from the smell of the smoke stack ship exhaust as we had been sitting still all night! Usually while at sea the ship it moving away from the exhaust!
At 9:30 am we had to vacate the room and we stayed on the Lido deck to get fresh air and parked ourselves closest to a low traffic restroom! We couldn’t get off the ship till 1 pm! As I have been free on migraines for over a year I didn’t have any migraine medicine with me!! I thought I was going to die!
I spent our Anniversary day and night in our room drinking Ginger Ale and soup! Romantic!!
Overall I give the cruise an A grade. If it wasn’t for the disco and pool being very tiny I would have given it an A+
Thanks again for all you did!
