My family and I were fortunate enough to be able to stay Club Med Ixtapa Pacific the last week in April. We arrived in the late afternoon and after check in had time to roam the property a bit and take the kids to the beach. The weather while we were there was in the 90’s every day with hardly a single cloud to speak of. The Ixtapa property is beautiful with a huge crescent-shaped sandy beach. Just off shore is a small island that one can sail over to. We spent countless hours playing and tanning on the beach with our three boys and loved it. In fact, there were a few earthquakes out at sea while we were there so we had some huge waves to play in for a few days in a row. Fun!
Our room was actually two club rooms attached so Cortney and I had our own space and we could ‘lock’ the boys in their room when we wanted to ‘relax’. The rooms were very nice with the standard semi-comfortable beds and sheets. Although, these beds were an upgrade from Punta Cana in terms of comfort and because they were level. The rooms each had a flat screen tv on the wall, a nice bathroom with separate walk in shower and private toilet. Our rooms were air conditioned but we had an issue with our a/c the first day so they came and fixed the following day. We had a great ocean view from our room.<
Our three boys (9, 5 and 3) all participated in the kids clubs daily for a few hours. We loved the G.O.’s and their interaction with our kids. They are so fun and energetic and the kids all seemed to really get along. In fact, we knew their G.O.s well by the time we left. Tyler our 9 year old had the time of his life in kids club. He really enjoyed having the freedom to kind of be on his own and play with kids his age. He even made a really good friend who he is keeping in touch with. The kids clubs had a great schedule each day and gave us their schedule each day so we would know where they were at any given time. WE both agree that based on the kids club alone, club med is the place to go for a family vacation if you want to be at a resort.
We didn’t do any excursions while we were there but we did grab a taxi one day to go shopping in Zihuatanejo with Tyler (9) and Blaze (5). We were zipped into town by a really friendly cab driver named Armando who gave us a brief historical ‘tour’ of the area and told us where to go an offered to pick us up when we were done. Shopping was typical with over a billion similar booths and literally dozens of different items. But it was fun nonetheless and we bought some fun things for the kids and souvenirs.
The Chief of the Village is Jean Marc. He is very nice, energetic and MC’d each night ’s show. The shows were good overall but on Thursday’s they have an 80’s show which is hilarious. It was over 45 songs mostly from the 80’s in 30 minutes. They had most of the G.O.s performing each song as closely resembling the band or singers as possible. Their Michael Jackson impersonator was phenomenal.
This was such a great trip and we would go to this Club Med again based on our experience there.
