Silversea Cruises will once again host its Silver Links golf program on 12 itineraries aboard Silver Shadow and Silver Whisper in 2008. The program lets golfers play on 35 courses in 16 countries and island destinations throughout the South Pacific, Mediterranean, Caribbean and Mexico. The optional golfing excursions are arranged and escorted by the ship's golf professional. Among the courses are the Kauri Cliffs Golf Club in New Zealand's Bay of Islands, the Monte Carlo Golf Club, and the Club de Golf Marina Ixtapa in Zihuatanejo, Mexico. The golf excursions vary in price and include transfers to and from the courses, pull or power-drive carts (where available), and green and any applicable caddy fees. Nike Golf clubs and golf essentials are available for rental or purchase. Golf clubs can be rented for as little as $45 per day with multiple-day and equipment packages available.
Onboard, golfers can further hone their skills with split-screen swing analysis utilizing V1 digital coaching system, the same software selected by PGA.com as its preferred instructional technology. The cost for private swing analysis starts at $30. The certified PGA-classed golf professional is available to organize personalized instruction, specialty group clinics, demonstrations and putting contests. While some group activities are complimentary, there is a fee for private lessons. Following is a sampling of the Silver Links voyages and golf courses.
The Silver Shadow departs May 16 on a 15-day Panama Canal crossing from Fort Lauderdale to Los Angeles with optional golf excursions to La Iguana at Los Suenos, Puntarenas; Tres Vidas Golf Club, Acapulco; and El Tigre Golf Club, Puerto Vallarta. The Silver Whisper departs on a seven-day Mediterranean cruise from Barcelona to Rome with golf available at Cannes Mougins Golf Club, Menton; Cosmopolitan Golf Club, Livorno; and the Monte Carlo Golf Club.
