Trip Itinerary (Summer)
Day 1: Depart for Europe. Your exciting European trip begins. Day 2: Arrive Barcelona. Check into the hotel. This evening meet your Contiki Tour Manager and fellow passengers. (D) Day 3: Barcelona. Our included sightseeing tour is a great introduction to this celebrated city. See Gaudi's Sagrada Familia Cathedral, the 1992 Olympic Complex and the Gothic district. A chance to experience Barcelona's famed shopping street La Ramblas and discover some of Spain's specialties. Tonight why not experience the passion of Flamenco dancing? (B) Day 4: Barcelona to Madrid. We travel west to Zaragoza. See the impressive Basilica de Nuestra Senora del Pilar. A chance to lunch in this city of four cultures. Then it's on to Madrid! (B,D) Day 5: Madrid. Our morning sightseeing includes a guided tour of the Royal Palace. The rest of the day is free for you to discover this amazing city. Perhaps see the Bullring or visit the famous Prado Musuem. Tonight a chance to try fabulous traditional Spanish cuisine. (B) Day 6: Madrid to Cordoba. Today begins with a morning drive to Toledo, where we see the Gothic cathedral and El Greco's house. We then head south into the heart of Andalusia. (B,D) Day 7: Cordoba to Seville. Today we travel to the host city of the 1992 World Expo - Seville. Join us on our sightseeing tour including the Maria Luisa park, or maybe take the opportunity to visit the tomb of Christopher Columbus. (B) Day 8: Seville to Granada. Today we visit Gibraltar before travelling east through the Sierra Nevada mountains to the town of Granada which is steeped in Moorish history. (B,D) Day 9: Granada. Today is your chance to explore the spectacular former residence of the Moorish Kings - the Alhambra Palace. You'll also have a chance to visit the historic Albaicin district of this city. (B) Day 10: Granada to Ibiza. Travelling east we head for the Mediterranean port of Denia. We board our ferry and make our way to the party island of Ibiza where you have the choice to either relax on the island's beaches or party till dawn at one of the island's many clubs. (B,D) Days 11-12: Ibiza. Enjoy the beach scene by day and the club scene by night. This is your chance to soak up the atmosphere of this Balearic island. (B,D)(B,D) Day 13: End Ibiza. Final farewells to your fellow travellers as your tour ends after breakfast. (B) Trip Itinerary (Winter)
Day 1: Depart for Europe. Your exciting European trip begins. Day 2: Arrive Madrid. After checking into your hotel, the rest of the afternoon is yours to explore the Spanish capital. This evening meet your Contiki Tour Manager and fellow travellers at 6pm in the hotel. (D) Day 3: Madrid. Our morning sightseeing includes a guided tour of the Royal Palace. The rest of the day is free for you to discover this amazing city. Perhaps see the Bullring or visit the famous Prado Musuem. Tonight a chance to try fabulous traditional Spanish cuisine. (B) Day 4: Madrid to Cordoba. Today begins with a morning drive to Toledo, where we see the Gothic cathedral and El Greco's house. We then head south into the heart of Andalusia. (B,D) Day 5: Cordoba to Seville. Time this morning to explore the cavernous depths of the Cordoba Mezquita. Later we travel to the host city of the 1992 World Expo - Seville. (B,D) Day 6: Seville Sightseeing. Today take the opportunity to visit the tomb of Christopher Columbus and the famous Giralda. Perhaps join us for a visit to the Plaza de Toros before indulging in some of the local tapas. (B) Day 7: Seville to Costa del Sol. This morning we visit the Rock of Gibraltar, famous for its Barbary Apes. Later we travel on to the Costa del Sol for our overnight stay. (B,D) Day 8: Costa del Sol to Granada. Passing Malaga we make our way east to Granada. Nestled in the foothills of the great Sierra Nevada this city is steeped in Moorish history. (B,D) Day 9: Granada Sightseeing. Today we explore the spectacular former residence of the Moorish Kings - the Alhambra Palace. You'll also have a chance to visit the historic Albaicin district of this city. (B) Day 10: Granada to Valencia. Continuing east we make our way to the Orange Blossom Coast and its capital, Valencia. Join us for an orientation tour and see the medieval Cathedral, home to the Holy Grail. (B,D) Day 11: Valencia to Barcelona. Today we travel to the 1992 Olympic city of Barcelona. We arrive early evening and begin our city tour which includes Sagrada Familia and Montjuic. After dinner why not head out and explore one of Europe's liveliest cities? (B,D) Day 12: Barcelona Sightseeing. This morning why not take the time to stroll the Gothic district? Today is your chance to experience Barcelona's famed shopping street La Ramblas and discover some Spanish specialties. Tonight why not experience the passion of Flamenco dancing? (B) Day 13: End Barcelona. This morning a final farewell to your fellow travellers as your tour ends after breakfast. (B)
