ITINERARY
- DAY 1 DEPART USA* Board your overnight transatlantic flight.
- DAY 2 ARRIVE IN PARIS, FRANCE Welcome to Paris! Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The balance of the day is free to begin exploring this wonderful city on your own.
- DAY 3 PARIS Paris is one of the most beautiful and romantic cities in the world. On a morning sightseeing tour, take in views of the grand Arc de Triomphe, spectacular Eiffel Tower, world famous Louvre Museum, venerable Notre Dame Cathedral with its flying buttresses and more. Your afternoon is at leisure to continue exploring on your own or shop in the boutiques. There is plenty to see and do in the French capital, known as the “City of Light.” (B)
- DAY 4 PARIS / TRIER, GERMANY / EMBARK SHIP After breakfast, a motorcoach takes you through the French countryside and on into Germany. Your luxurious river cruiser is moored here. Later this afternoon, a city tour shows you the highlights of one of the oldest cities in Germany. (B,D)
- DAY 5 BERNKASTEL / TRABEN TRARBACH Bernkastel has a history of over 500 years of wine making. Learn about this and more on a walking tour of this town on the Moselle River. Next, visit the little riverside town of Traben Trarbach. See the charming architecture on a walking tour, then sample some of the fine wines of the region. (B,L,D)
- DAY 6 KOBLENZ / RRDESHEIM See the narrow streets, squares and fountains on a walking tour of Koblenz. Back on board your cruiser, glide along the Rhine to the wine village of Rüdesheim. There is time here to wander along the Drosselgasse, a long avenue of shops and wine bars. (B,L,D)
- DAY 7 FRANKFURT Disembark in Frankfurt, the financial capital of Germany. A tour shows you the highlights of this modern, international city. Afterward, there is time to explore on your own, shop or simply relax. (B,L,D)
- DAY 8 MILTENBERG Stop in the medieval town of Miltenberg. On a walking tour, see fairy tale half timbered houses, Main Castle, Old Town and the Royal Inn, which has been a working hotel since the 16th century. Afterward, there is time to explore this quaint town on your own or browse through the shops. (B,L,D)
- DAY 9 WURZBURG / ROTHENBURG EXCURSION Disembark in Wurzburg and head out along the Romantic Road to the delightful town of Rothenburg. Fully encircled by its ancient city walls, the half timbered houses, gothic churches, “Master Draught” clock and quaint medieval streets enchant visitors, young and old. There is time to stroll through town, browse in the shops and have lunch on your own. Later, return to your cruiser for dinner. (B,D)
- DAY 10 BAMBERG This morning, a walking tour shows you Bamberg’s Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The serpentine streets of this charming town are lined with baroque houses and 18th century mansions. Be sure to stop at the Old Town Hall for pictures. This unique half timbered building straddles the river, overhanging it precariously. Your afternoon is free for exploring on your own or s ome last minute shopping. You might want to join the optional “Bamberg Beer Experience.” With nearly 100 breweries in the area, Bamberg is proud of their long association with the brew. Learn more about beer-making and sample some of the different varieties. (B,L,D)
- DAY 11 DEPART NUREMBERG Disembark after breakfast, bidding the crew a fond farewell. You will be transferred to the airport for your flight home. (B)
