Day 1 BOARD YOUR OVERNIGHT TRANSATLANTIC FLIGHT.
Day 2 ARRIVE IN AMSTERDAM, HOLLAND.
Arrive in charming Amsterdam. This afternoon, the crew of your luxurious river cruise ship is ready to welcome you on board. (D)
Day 3 AMSTERDAM.
After breakfast, admire the architecture of the city on a guided canal boat tour. Sail in the glass-top boat past beautiful 17th century homes, charming churches and 16th century merchant houses. This afternoon, enjoy the scenery as you cruise towards Germany. (B,L,D)
Day 4 COLOGNE, GERMANY / KOBLENZ.
Cologne is one of Germany’s largest cities. The soaring twin steeples of Cologne’s UNESCO listed Gothic cathedral dominate the river skyline. Continue on to 2000-year-old Koblenz for an after dinner city walk. (B,L,D)
Day 5 KOBLENZ / MAINZ.
Sail through the Rhine Gorge, the most beautiful stretch of the river to quaint Mainz. Enjoy a walking tour of this beautiful town, famous as the home of Gutenberg, the inventor of the printing press. There is free time to shop before the ship sails late this afternoon. (B,L,D)
Day 6 MILTENBERG / WERTHEIM.
Arrive in Miltenberg, a picturesque Bavarian village on the Main River. Enjoy the medieval half-timbered houses, narrow streets and city walls. Next travel to Wertheim for a glass blowing demonstration. (B,L,D)
Day 7 WÜRZBURG.
In Würzburg, see the major sights including the Bishop’s Residenz, a UNESCO World Heritage site. (B,L,D)
Day 8 BAMBERG.
This morning, enter the Main-Danube Canal at enchanting Bamberg, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993. Marvel at the Old Town Hall and the city’s serpentine streets with charming houses and 18th century mansions. (B,L,D)
Day 9 NUREMBERG.
Enjoy a tour of this famous historic city with its fabulous Gothic churches and elegant patrician houses. (B,L,D)
Day 10 REGENSBURG.
In Regensburg, a tour will show you the architectural highlights, including the Old Town Hall and the Porta Pretoria – gates to a Roman fort built in 179 A.D. (B,L,D)
Day 11 PASSAU / LINZ, AUSTRIA.
Passau is a city of graceful arcades and cobblestone streets. Optionally, take a full day excursion to Salzburg and its most popular Sound of Music sights. For those staying on board, enjoy a scenic cruise from Passau into Austria and on to Linz. (B,L,D)
Day 12 MELK / DÜRNSTEIN / KREMS.
Cruise through the Wachau Valley to Melk. The magnificent Benedictine Abbey dominates the town. From here, a short cruise takes you to Dürnstein. Marvel at the blue Baroque Stiftskirche. Continue cruising through the UNESCO listed Wachau Valley to Krems. (B,L,D)
Day 13 VIENNA.
Sightseeing in Vienna includes lavish Hofburg Palace, the Vienna Opera House, Ringstrasse, and awe-inspiring St. Stephen’s Cathedral. There is time to shop in the Kärnterstrasse and to enjoy sachertorte or apfelstrudel in a café. (B,L,D)
Day 14 VIENNA / BRATISLAVA, SLOVAKIA.
After a free morning in Vienna, sail to Bratislava, the dynamic capital of Slovakia. See the charming Old Town with its Town Hall and Mirbach Palace, as well as the Gothic cathedral of St. Martin’s. (B,L,D)
Day 15 BUDAPEST, HUNGARY.
Budapest, spanning the banks of the Danube, is the most cosmopolitan metropolis of Eastern Europe. The massive hilltop castle complex with Fisherman’s Bastion and the Matthias Church are sights not to be missed. (B,L,D)
Day 16 DEPART BUDAPEST.
