ITINERARY

  • DAY 1 DEPART USA* Board your overnight transatlantic flight.
  • DAY 2 ARRIVE IN AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS Welcome to Amsterdam! Your deluxe river cruiser is moored near the city center. (D)
  • DAY 3 AMSTERDAM Admire the wonderful architecture of this vibrant city during a guided canal boat cruise. View the 16th and 17th century homes, churches and more from your glass-roofed boat. Then re-board your river cruiser and enjoy the scenery as you head to Germany. (B,L,D)
  • DAY 4 DUSSELDORF, GERMANY / COLOGNE A walking tour of Dusseldorf shows off the highlights including the Burgplatz and Old Town. Then continue cruising to Cologne. See the narrow streets of Old Town, passing by tiny squares and little churches, on the way to Cologne Cathedral, the city’s most famous landmark and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. (B,L,D)
  • DAY 5 FRANKFURT Enjoy the scenery on both banks as you cruise through the Rhine Gorge and past the famous Lorelei Rock. This afternoon, dis­embark in Frankfurt for a walking tour of the historic city center, “The Romer.” Later, reboard your luxurious cruiser. (B,L,D)
  • DAY 6 MAINZ / KOBLENZ Today, take your choice of touring. You can dis­embark and travel by motorcoach to Heidelberg, Germany's oldest university town. Here, stop at the red-walled Castle to see the Great Vat, a 49,000 gallon 18th century wine cask, and enjoy the beautiful views of the Neckar Valley and Heidelberg. Then take a walking tour of old Heidel­berg. There is free time for lunch on your own before returning to the ship in Mainz. If you stay in Mainz, your guided walk­ing tour of this town includes the Gutenberg Museum, home of the world's first printed bible. Later, cruise to Koblenz, where the Moselle and Rhine Rivers meet. After dinner, join your Cruise Director on an evening walk around the town. (B,L,D)
  • DAY 7 COCHEM Cruise past terraced vineyards and hilltop castles to Cochem. Visit this delightful riverside town where the old city gates and walls still stand. A guided tour will take you to hilltop Reichsburg Castle, which offers lovely views of the river valley. (B,L,D)
  • DAY 8 BRENKASTEL / TRIER Disembark in Bernkastel, located in the middle of the Moselle wine producing region. Bernkastel boasts over 500 years of documented wine history. Enjoy a guided walking tour through the old town center with its many medieval and Renaissance buildings. Continue your cruise to Trier, Germany’s oldest city. A guided tour includes views of the Roman Baths and the Amphitheatre. (B,L,D)
  • DAY 9 DISEMBARK IN TRIEF / LUXEMBOURG / PARIS, FRANCE Disembark after breakfast and depart for Luxembourg, the last of the independent duchies which once made up western and central Europe. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of the smallest countries in the world. Then continue into France, traveling to Paris. The rest of the day is free in the romantic “City of Light." (B)
  • DAYS 10-11 PARIS Two days in this cosmopolitan metropolis. On your first morning, take a city tour of the fashionable capital. See all the major sights, including Notre Dame, the Louvre, Arc de Triomphe, Champs Elysées and more. The ­balance of your time is free to continue exploring on your own, do some last minute shopping or relax in a café. There is so much to see and do here the choice is yours. (B daily)
