ITINERARY
- DAY 1 ARRIVE IN AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND
You will be transferred to your hotel, where your day is at leisure. This evening, enjoy a welcome drink and dinner. (D) - DAY 2 AUCKLAND / WAITOMO / ROTORUA
Travel south to Waitomo to see the famous Waitomo Caves and the Glow Worm Grotto on an underground boat trip. Continue on to Rotorua. Tonight, enjoy a special cultural evening. Visit the Realm of Tane, experience a traditional Maori welcome ceremony, then relish a Maori Hangi (feast) and entertainment. (B,D) - DAY 3 ROTORUA
Begin the day with a breakfast cruise aboard a replica of an 1880s steamboat. Next, visit the Agrodome for a sheep shearing demonstration. Later, tour Te Puia Thermal Reserve where a local Maori guide escorts you past geysers and pools of boiling mud. The afternoon is free. (B) - DAY 4 ROTORUA / WELLINGTON
Head to Taupo and see mighty Huka Falls. Then continue to Wellington. Take a sightseeing tour and enjoy the view from the top of Mount Victoria. (B,D) - DAY 5 WELLINGTON / BLENHEIM
After a free morning, visit Te Papa, New Zealand’s National Museum. Later, board the inter-island cruise across Cook Strait. Upon arrival on the South Island, travel to Blenheim. Tonight, relish a wine tasting and dinner at the Montana Winery. (B,D) - DAY 6 BLENHEIM / CHRISTCHURCH
Visit Kaikoura, set between the mountains and the ocean. Watch for New Zealand fur seals and whales. You may want to take an optional whale watching flight (own expense), before continuing on to Christchurch. (B) - DAY 7 CHRISTCHURCH / MOUNT COOK
Discover the sights of Christchurch this morning on the Christchurch Tram. On to Lake Tekapo, the Church of the Good Shepherd, and to admire the scenery of Mount Cook National Park. (B,D) - DAY 8 MOUNT COOK / DUNEDIN
See the pretty Oamaru region en route to Dunedin. This afternoon is free for you to explore. (B,D) - DAY 9 DUNEDIN / TE ANAU
Enjoy a guided tour at Larnach Castle, New Zealand’s only castle. Then travel across the island to pretty Te Anau. (B,D) - DAY 10 TE ANAU / MILFORD SOUND / QUEENSTOWN
Discover the magnificent alpine scenery of Fiordland National Park. Enjoy a cruise on Milford Sound. Then on to Queenstown. (B) - DAY 11 QUEENSTOWN
A day at leisure in Queenstown, set on the shores of Lake Wakatipu. Explore on your own, shop or join an optional excursion. Tonight, board the historic steamship T.S.S. Earnslaw for a cruise across Lake Wakatipu to Walter Peak Station for a delicious dinner. (B,D) - DAY 12 QUEENSTOWN / FRANZ JOSEF
Leaving Queenstown, first see the historic gold rush town of Arrowtown, then stunning Lake Wanaka. Travel over Haast Pass and along the coastal road to Franz Josef to see Franz Josef Glacier in its setting of mountains and temperate rainforest. (B,D) - DAY 13 FRANZ JOSEF / CHRISTCHURCH
Travel north to Hokitika, where you can see native greenstone (jade) jewelery. On to board the TranzAlpine train. Enjoy a a spectacular journey over the Southern Alps to Christchurch. (B,D) - DAY 14 DEPART CHRISTCHURCH (B)
