The Disneyness
by Patrick Mack, Senior Travel Consultant/Four Seasons Preferred Partner Specialist
Just came back from spending my birthday weekend at Disneyland. We stayed at the Grand California which has added on a whole new wing, a second pool to its central courtyard, with cabanas and all the modern conveniences laid on (TVs, waiters, inside sitting and outside lounge chairs) and a spa. The lounge chairs around the pool are the nicest I've seen anywhere. It is the best of the Disney hotels here. Rooms are all very spacious and come with empty refrigerators.
Service is very good and although they are constantly busy, the staff is right on top of things. My only complaint with the accommodations is that the water pressure in all of the hotels has always been ridiculously weak. The first morning we noticed they had installed these new rotating shower heads that were obviously intended to combat this problem but really only make you laugh.
And speaking of water pressure...(segue)...we saw the new "World of Color' at California Adventure...twice. For anyone who's ever enjoyed the fountain in front of the Bellagio in Las Vegas (same designers), just multiply that by one hundred and add color, laser effects, fire and all the Disney characters and music. My advice is to stand as close to the rear and the middle as you possibly can. If you stand at the front you'll really only see the part of the show in front of you, and I think it's as wide as a football field, and you'll be soaked.
It was a great weekend!
