St. Thomas is a Great Place to Visit

Hello Alice,

St. Thomas is a great place to visit. The weather could not have been better, and the resort had a beautiful beach. Thank you for all of your help. Looking at other resorts while we were there, we felt the three of us get an A +! The resort was close to town, shops, public transportation. Nice restaurant/ Beachcomber Resort next door....Their food was good and very friendly people worked there!

Everything the brochure mentioned about the resort is accurate. The staff was not as sophisticated as other places that we have been to. But most of the staff was friendly and helpful. All the rooms faced the ocean, there was no elevator, 3 stories, and the resort was divided into 3 sections. We were in room 1202, 2nd story, which we liked for privacy and safety. The room was spacious, not too fancy but nice. There seemed to be trouble keeping clean beach towels available. We were told the manager had already placed a large order to solve that inconvenience.

It is true that the airport is right behind the resort. We could have walked to and from the airport to the resort. We calculated walking distance from the Vons on Centinela all the way to Shore Ave. We did not mind the noise because it is not LAX and we liked seeing the planes land and depart. We also walked the same distance the opposite direction and we were able to get their public transportation (I know I did it again, Rastis allowed me that small thrill) Safari Taxis, and for a $1 per person we could ride the bus into town. Taxis charge $6 per person!

St. Thomas depends on the tourism from cruise ships. The island is almost dormant when there are no ships. There is a lot to see in town: museums, churches, historic houses, governor's building and house, etc. For $2 per person we took the Safari Taxi and traveled the route that the islanders use to get around St. Thomas.

The food is very expensive...we were able to share a meal a few times. The brochures available at the airport, resort and other places are very informative, you can get to see a lot by just using them. Of course, the staff at the resort was very helpful. We used Tropical Tours to go to St. John and paid $105 per person and it was worth the money.

Rastis and I had a great time! We would go to St. Thomas again, even if it is to just go and enjoy the beautiful beach. Thanks again.

Fondly,

Rastis and Lisette
