My Trip To The Galapagos On Celebrity Xpedition!

Dear All-Travel,

Before I get to submerged back into reality, I thought I would pass along my thoughts and experiences about my phenomenal vacation.   My wife and I have returned and actually feel privileged to have been able to see and do all the things that we did. First, the stars of the show: the wildlife of the islands.  Each person gets to have their own individual encounter, no two are exactly alike. I saw a baby sea lion just two feet away from me who was shunned away from a large female when it wanted to feed because it was not the mother. The baby then moved away crying and looking for its mother. Imagine this right in front of you and not in a zoo. There were sea turtles that swam so close when I was snorkeling that I had to back up so as to not touch them.

The second stars are the naturalist on board who guided us each day on the different island stops we made. Their knowledge, devotion to the Galapagos and caring for all of the guests touched our hearts. The third stars are the wonderful team onboard Xpediton. From the captain to the zodiac boat captains, service and smiles were always the order of the day.

I had no idea how wonderful the ship was, by far the newest and best doing that itinerary. We received first class, over-the-top experience in Quito, staying at the best hotel in Town, the JW Marriot. We enjoyed included tours and meals which including dinner at the private restaurant of the Quito Opera House with an opera singer to entertain us.  There were families onboard and even grandparents taking their 13 year old grand-daughter as a Bat Mitzvah present. We even heard from a 9 year old boy who informed us during dinner that he had to hurry because he had “a hot tub party to go to and then watch the whales come around the ship when lights are turned on the water.” We enjoyed all activities and events put on including karaoke night and salsa dancing.

We got to experience and witness the natural beauty of both the Galapagos and of the Ecuadorean people, who are friendly, very polite and always had a smile on their faces. Fantastic trip!
