Connie Was Super Terrific, We LOVED Our Regent Alaska Cruise!

We LOVED the Regent cruise and my parents did as well. The cabins were fabulous, really nice and big with a walk-in closet and nice bathroom. It was truly wonderful, especially for Richard and I who are always traveling and living out of a suitcase. The ship was very nice too.

The cruise itself was terrific too. The captain and the cruise director did their best to make us all happy and comfortable (silly outings and meet and greet stuff), they were great fun. There was also a naturalist on board, Terry Breen, who was soooo knowledgeable and walked us through the glaciers and everything all day long with lectures and live commentary. She did well with the cruise director too, they had a great rapport and it was fun and informative.

The shore excursions were good too. The two BEST from our stand point:  the helicopter ride to the glacier in Juneau (Richard and I alone and it was soooo breathtaking we were amazed) and; the otter and glacier cruise (3 hr) out of Sitka (4 of us) was fantastic. On this little cruise we saw so many wonderful things. The best being the whales feeding.....it was like so much action and we just were going crazy looking at everything. It was terrific.

The only thing Richard and I (not my parents, who were greatly impressed and happy) did not LOVE on the cruise, was the food.  It was good, almost very good on occasion, but not excellent. We expected to be wowed at every step of the way on the food, but were not. A little disappointing, but okay. However, the wines were excellent and included in cruise, which we were happy about.

Regarding our land tours in Seward, the 6 hour cruise to see the wildlife and glaciers was a non-event after our 3 hour otter and glacier cruise from the ship. After that, nothing was going to compare and it was 6 LONG hours to see not much. I would not do it again.  But surprisingly, we really enjoyed the dogsled ride the 2nd day. We thought it would be hokey, but it was interesting and fun. That whole day tour actually was and we did not think it would be.

Richard and I loved Alaska so much that I think we are going to go back in a future summer for a month or go for a summer and volunteer and live there. It was SOOOOOO beautiful and we were lucky on the rain front (it barely did) that I think we will go again very, very soon.

Connie, thanks for all your help with this trip and the follow up. We loved our cruise and will do it again (I am sure) and when we do, I will contact you. You have been super terrific!
