  • Serenity At The Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, Big Island

    Lila,

Want to let you know Joan and I had great time on the big island, with much thanks to you.  Everything went as you had planned for us; our United flights were right on schedule, Hertz gave us a free upgrade, and the Mauna Kea put us in a wonderful room on the 7th floor, with a view of the whole Pacific Ocean.  Also, they acknowledged Joan's birthday with a bottle of champagne and other treats.

I will say, I didn't realize how exclusive and upscale the Mauna Kea is, being very expensive for everything, but it's location on that beautiful beach and bay, and the hotels amenities make it worth the expense.  I got lots of great snorkeling in and was able to swim with the turtles, so I'm a very happy camper.

Thank you again, so much.  Next year, I'll contact you about a vacation in Maui.

    Sincerely,

    Robert

  • Canada & New England Adventures on Holland America Cruise Line's ms Maasdam

    Hi Lila,

We really enjoyed the Maasdam cruise to Eastern Canada. We had never seen that part of Canada and really liked the shore tours we arranged at the different ports. Prince Edward Island was the best. It was also great to see Quebec and Montreal and their history. Halifax was also really interesting to see. Bar Harbor and Sydney were only so/so. The staff on the ship were very accommodating and helpful. I guess the main negative we had was the poor quality of the food. The breakfasts were fine and the lunches when we were on board were OK, but the dinners were all poor except for one. We thought our cabin was very nice with the veranda and had plenty of room. The ship staff seemed to be very organized as to how we left and returned to the ship, particularly embarkation in Boston and getting off in Montreal. Overall we enjoyed the trip and all that we saw. The colors were just starting to turn. Thanks for your help in getting everything set up for us. You were very organized, which is something I really appreciate.

    Andy

  • Holland America's "Oosterdam" and Western Europe

    Hello Lila,

We are back home. Vacation was quite good - first of all the weather was excellent all the time.  We spent 3 beautiful days at Barcelona before boarding Oosterdam. That week happened to be a big city holiday (La Merce festival) - definitely a highlight of our trip.  Overall cruise experience is quite positive - Holland America is not cheap, but service is better in comparison with our previous trip.  I would highly recommend to everybody who plans a similar trip to add some days before boarding (Barcelona) and after disembarkation at Venice, otherwise it is just not enough time for those major destinations. Also Florence and Rome is impossible to explore for such a limited time, but fortunately for us it was not the first visit to Italy, so we just relaxed and enjoyed our favorite spots, instead of participating in a race through all major attractions.   One more comment is about Dubrovnik - old city is quite small and is simply packed with tourists from few big cruise ships.

    Regards,

    Igor

PS Despite your advise to make a reservation for a Pinnacle grill as soon as possible we missed this opportunity on a first day, and later it was fully booked and did not accept any reservations. But the main restaurant dining was quite good, so we were not disappointed.  Add a comment
